Women In Leadership - Week 2

Week 2 of the Women In Leadership class was pretty amazing.
We had many speeches from known figures such as Mary Degenaro. Her speech was about how the course of Law works and exactly which county she represents. She told us that she was one of the lucky few who had decent male accomplices at work, who didn't really discriminate her at all up her ladder in life.
She said that though there were quite a few females who questioned her capability in raising two sons and working long hours, the men she worked with never questioned her efficiency.
She also said that you need to be very focused and not let what others say have a negative effect on what you want to achieve or do.
I personally found her very inspiring because it showed me that even I can someday balance both work and a family and accomplish a high post like herself.

There were also speeches from the Head Librarian. She took us on a tour of the Library throw a power point presentation and she briefed us on what exactly the Library has to offer in terms or research and fun. They have games college students can borrow and play when feeling stressed out. There is also an instant online chat that students can have with any Librarian present at that time, which I though was pretty amazing. She is a very qualified women, I would have never thought that to become a Librarian there were that many recognized qualifications to be adhered. She amazed me and I thought that being a Librarian was so professional. She too inspired me and it taught me never to underestimate anyone. I was so very proud that she too was a women who was extremely qualified.

We had a fun session from another lady who tries her best to create a sisterhood environment between girls of all ages. We came out with small issues we faced during our high school period that held us back from doing certain things that we wanted to do.
It was the best out of all the sessions for me because I felt that I was not alone and that girls in the very room that I was in had issues related to the same thing. Being branded in school.
I got a lot out of that session because I felt that it almost reached out to me and was saying, be strong.

We had a speech from a gentlemen lastly. He gave us a very clear image of the history of Otterbein. It was wonderful because the highest posts even back then were held by women.
I cannot even begin to explain how proud I am that the President of Otterbein is a women. It's so honorable.

Week 2 was a great class. I can't wait to see what week 3 is like.
